Two members of the Education Safeguarding Team – Mick Bradshaw and Hayley Cameron have recently received some comments that relate to jobs that they had in Sutton before becoming part of Cognus.

Mick used to run the ‘Adventure Project’ – which was part of the Youth Service provision in Sutton. One of the young people that used to attend outdoor activities and courses run by the project recently got in touch to say that:
‘My time at the adventure club gave me so much – and helped me to be the paramedic (first responder) that I am now’.
While having fun trying outdoor activities was the selling point, young people also developed a range of transferrable skills and learned to be resilient, work as part of a team and problem solve – skills that are very useful for a paramedic who encounters the unpredictable on a daily basis!
Hayley’s education career started at Avenue Primary, and she was sent this by a former parent when her child finished her GCSE’s earlier this month:
“Thank you to Avenue Primary (and Overton Grange) for looking after my babies so well – and the biggest thank you to Hayley Cameron… The Early Years are the most important and you did all three of them proud, birthday crowns, afternoon naps in the bock corner, hand painted dolphins at the bottom of the swimming pool and the best ever alien sighting in Belmont!”
Our jobs are so fast paced and sometimes you can find yourself questioning the difference you make. It is so important to take that time out and reflect. When you are working with, or supporting services for children and young people, your work can and does have an impact!
