Year 7 Nativity brings Christmas joy with a heart-warming performance from students at The John Fisher School

Staff from Cognus Therapies, including the school’s Occupational Therapist (OT) Amber Burnett who work in partnership with the school, joined students, staff, families and visitors, in a heart-warming display of bravery, resilience, and festive spirit. Year 7 students from Catherine Class at The John Fisher School gathered together for a special Nativity, celebrating the joy of Christmas with a performance that truly captured the season’s magic.

The event was particularly meaningful for the students  some of whom had not previously participated in their school performances before, giving them a chance to shine in front of an audience of staff, parents, and visitors. The service, held in the school chapel, was a true testament to the power of inclusion and community.

The students, supported by the school’s amazing SENDCo, Katie Hall and staff members, sang three beautiful Christmas carols. Their voices filled the chapel with warmth, sending a message of hope and joy. Their courage and enthusiasm were evident as they performed with confidence, despite the challenges they face.

Among those in attendance was the school’s SEND governor, who praised the students for their remarkable determination. What we saw was not just a Nativity, but a true display of resilience. The students showed incredible bravery, and their dedication to taking part in the service is something to be celebrated.

The event not only highlighted the students’ achievements but also showcased the strong sense of community within the school. Staff, parents, and visitors alike joined together to celebrate the students, who were able to experience the true spirit of inclusion and achievement. The Nativity service was a reminder of the power of determination, teamwork, and the joy that comes from celebrating Christmas as a united community.

It was wonderful to have been invited to the Nativity as part of our collaborative work with The John Fisher School.
