Sutton Virtual School provides a range of enrichment events for our young people. These events are a great opportunity to build friendships, explore interests and to learn outside of the classroom. Highlights for the coming year include a visit to the Tate Modern, and a one-day cooking class for post-16 young people.

Autumn Term
Date: October 30th 2024
Activity: Cooking Skills Workshop (KS4 & post-16 only)
Details: Being able to cook a meal for yourself and friends is a lovely thing. It’s also a great skillset to have as you enter independent living.
Chef Tracey will be teaching a small group of young people how to prepare a 3-course meal from scratch, as well as a range of skills you can apply to other recipes.
Menu: Starter – tomato bruschetta / Main – spaghetti Bolognese / Dessert – strawberry pavlova

Date: December 16th 2024
Activity: Cognus Families’ Christmas Event (all ages)
Details: Our annual Christmas event for families and children of all ages. There will be arts and crafts, gifts and refreshments.

Spring Term
Date: Feb 11th 2025
Activity: SEND Trip to Tate Modern (years 7-11 only)
Details: Sutton Virtual School will be taking a small group of SEND students to see Solid Ligh: an immersive exhibition by Anthony McCall exhibition at Tate Modern on Feb 11th.
Beams of light are projected through mist to create amazing 3D forms that shape and shift.
We then have access to Tate Draw where students get to sketch on digital pads and have their designs projected onto the walls of the gallery.

Summer Term
Date: May 27th 2025
Activity: Watersports at Mote Park Centre, Kent (age 8-16)
Details: We will be taking a group of young people to Mote Park Watersports Centre in Kent for a day of water-based activities. Activities on the day include paddle boarding, bell boating and more. Attendees don’t need to be super amazing swimmers, but they will need to be confident in the water (they will be wearing buoyancy aids).
