On 13th July 2023, the Education Safeguarding Team held an end of year network event for Designated Safeguarding Leads at Cantium House.
I look forward to attending this event each year. You get to chat to the team, meet new people and share experiences. I always come away with new ideas and resources

We had 3 early years settings, 10 primary schools and 7 secondary schools in attendance. We were also lucky enough to have the LADO (Sima Hirani), Youth Engagement (PC Chris Hamilton) and the London Fire Brigade (Stephen Remell-Coleman) joining us for this event.
This is a great way of building relationships and sharing what is available to schools. I have come away with a list and have lots of visits planned for the new academic year

We have a strong DSL Network in Sutton but working with safeguarding issues daily can be emotive. It is important to let our DSLs know how valued they are and to enforce that they are not alone. We are in this together.
