Intervention and Identification Service

Cognus Intervention and Identification Service, is a multi-disciplinary team who provide support for children and young people with a range of difficulties that include; social communication, attention and concentration, attachment and mental health issues in the broader sense.

This service is made up of two elements:-

Element 1: Intervention Service Paving The Way Leaflet, this element of the service provides a menu of services that are tailored to support a primary aged children and those transitioning into year 7. Support offered may include individualised one to one sessions with the child, targeted group work to develop resilience and reduce anxiety and support for parents, carers and school with strategies, information and signposting.

We also offer pre and post diagnosis workshops for parents and Social Communication Link Person training for schools.

Making a Referral: Referrals can be made by completing the Intervention Referral Form  and sending it to

Element 2: Identification, this element of the service forms part of the CAMHS diagnostic pathway for Autism. Cognus provides a community diagnostic service for children and young people whose prime need is thought to be Autism.

Making a Referral: Referrals to the service continue to be via CAMHS Single Point of Access (SPA).
