Trauma and Attachment

The purpose of the Trauma and Attachment Programme at Cognus is to provide support to schools and foster carers.

It has been evidenced by research that maltreatment is implicated in the development of psychological, physiological and social difficulties. Saliently, children exposed to trauma are four times more likely to have SEND needs and may struggle with executive functions, emotional regulation and communication. In recognition of these needs, our program promotes trauma sensitive schools and strengthen provisions for foster carers primarily through training.
