The role of the DSL and safeguarding team is forever expanding. It is important that DSLs have a safe space to share reflections on practice – what is going well, what is causing frustration and what would help to improve things.
We are so proud of the DSL Network in our local area. What they do daily does not go unrecognised. However, they need to remember that they are ‘human first’. It is important to recognise that to be able to fully ‘show up’ for others, they must ensure their own needs are met and their feelings validated.
On Monday 25th November, we were pleased to finally be able to share our newly developed Reflective Safeguarding Supervision Offer.
We have been facilitating safeguarding supervision sessions for the last 3 years and these have been hugely successful.
‘Supervision helps me to see things differently. In this role you never feel that are doing a good enough job. You constantly worry about missing something and we are talking about children’s lives. This session is a safe, reflective space to talk about how I am really feeling’ (Primary DSL, January 2024).
Using the feedback gathered from these sessions, our supervision survey and a pilot that has been carried out over the last year, we can now offer an extended service. More information can be found here:
