What is an Educational Psychology assessment

• An educational psychology assessment involves working with the young person, and the adults around them, to identify and recommend strategies to support their development.
• EP assessment is much bigger than just a 1:1 “test”. EPs use all the information that is gathered from consultations, observations, documents, as well as individual work with the student (which can involve 1:1 assessment) to gain a full picture of the young person.
• Often, EPs will use consultation as a means to deliver their services. This involves bringing psychology to discussions with adults and young people. The understanding behind consultation is that each individual has unique knowledge to contribute to information sharing and problem solving.
