The Primary Designated Safeguarding Lead Update Session, held virtually via Zoom on 7 December, was attended by 101 participants. 93% of Sutton Primary Schools attended and for the 3 schools that were unable to attend, a recording of the session was shared so that they were still able to access the resources and information discussed.
At the session, there were 10 key speakers sharing a range of materials on emotional health and well-being, support around self-harm, early help services, risks in the local area and key police initiatives alongside future training opportunities.
Christmas is not always an easy time for our families for a variety of different reasons. We want to ensure that our schools feel supported in managing this difficult time, as well as feeling confident in being able to signpost families to the relevant services where needed. Cognus’ Safeguarding team aims to try and make this time a little easier on our children and young people and for families and Designated Safeguarding Leads to realise that they are not alone.
