Sutton Virtual School acts as a local authority champion to promote the educational outcomes of children in kinship care. This includes children in kinship care through child arrangement orders, special guardianship and those living in kinship care who are or were looked after.
What is Kinship?
“Kinship carers are family or friends who step up, often during an unexpected crisis, to care for a child when their parents aren’t able to.” Kinship.org.uk
Kinship carers are usually grandparents, aunts or uncles, brothers or sisters, a stepparent, stepbrother or stepsister, or someone who isn’t related but knows the child well.
