Did you know that June is Gypsy, Roma & Traveller History Month?
Since 2008, Gypsy, Roma and Traveller History Month (GRTHM) has been celebrated throughout the UK throughout the month of June sharing the history, culture and language of Gypsy, Traveller and Roma communities. Through celebration, education and raising awareness, GRTHM helps to tackle prejudices, challenge myths and to raise the voices of Gypsies and Travellers in wider society.
Gypsies, Roma and Travellers are the largest ethnic minority community in the European Union with over 12 million people across the EU and some 300,000 in the UK. In many countries, they are marginalised and sometimes suffer extreme levels of prejudice and discrimination.
