The Traveller Education Service is pleased to share a very positive start to secondary school life for one of their pupils, as a result of some key transition work. The Service supported the family every step of the way, from the initial admissions application, completing contact and information forms, assisting with getting the right uniform and applying for a place on the Activity Camp during the summer break. This Activity Camp run by school, enabled the pupil to get a real insight into what secondary school life would be like; and to start forming friendships prior to the start of term, reducing some of those transition anxieties pupils often face. The Camp also gave him the confidence to walk into school independently on his first day with his newfound friends in their oversized blazers!
It is great to see how X has settled in and is engaging in after-school clubs and activities. He has earned merit points and been pupil of the week already which has made Mum and the Service so happy with how well things are going.
